The 2nd largest diamond discovered anywhere in the world during the past two years and the 29th largest ever discovered in history, was recovered during explorations by Meya Mining in Sierra Leone a subsidiary of Trustco Resources, in the Kono district.
The astonishing discovery of the 476 carat diamond in an exploration area spanning the Kamara Gbense to Tankoro Kingdoms in Sierra Leone is already in the hands of the Minister of Mines and Mineral Resource of Sierra Leone, Hon. Minkailu Mansaray.
Trustco in November last year advised shareholders that its subsidiary, Trustco Resources, acquired a 51% interest in Meya Mining (Mauritius). Meya holds a four year exclusive diamond exploration licence in Sierra Leone.
This morning, just hours after the discovery of the historic 476 carat diamond by Meya Mining in Sierra Leone, further significant sized diamonds of 27ct and 19ct respectively were found on the same day in the same area as well as volumes of smaller sized diamonds that were also reported amongst the explored materials.
Meya Mining in Sierra Leone is in the process of completing its resource statement and more information will be released in due course.
