Charly Ringnyu Nyugap began on Thursday, July 6, 2017 an unlimited hunger strike on the campus of the University of Buéa. He claims to take into account his disability and better treatment within the university institution.
The visually impaired student published a statement in which he listed a series of claims before beginning his sit-in at the entrance to the Faculty of Education building in which he Spent all his curriculum.
Charly Ringnyu Nyugap accuses the university of using students with disabilities to raise funds that are ultimately used to provide lessons for the non-disabled.
He also denounced the bad faith of the leaders of this institution, especially that of former Vice-Chancellor Nalova Lyonga who claimed not to know that students with disabilities had special rights in Cameroon.
Finally, he claims to receive his doctoral thesis without delay and to plan his defense. A situation which prevents him, according to his statements, to pass the grade of assistant without a thesis to that of teacher and which brings to light the recurring conflicts that characterize the daily life of this university establishment. An institution set up in 1992 and which, according to the most recent statistics, has about 15,000 students.
