The department of agriculture, forestry and fisheries said on Monday that a second case of avian influenza was reported on later farms in Mpumalanga, Val and Standerton.
All the farms are not directly linked together though the virus are of the same strength, hence making the infections seperate. Spokesperson Molapo said in a statement that the farm has been put under quarantine and no eggs will be allowed to leave the farm of over 25,000 birds.
Accordingly, the sale of hens have been banned accros the country.
Backyard farmers are pleased upon to report cases of large numbers of birds dying to the agricultural department with immidiet effect so that investigation can be done accordingly.
