A 23-year-old man was killed during an altercation over an Uber ride in Hillbrow on Sunday.
Hillbrow police spokesperson Sergeant Mdu Zondo said that three men were leaving a nightclub and was walking towards an Uber when local taxi drivers chased the Uber driver away.
The three men then exchanged heated words with the taxi drivers who chased the man away.
The 23-year-old victim then tried to steal a cellphone from one of the men. He was then stabbed in the chest. The man tried to run away but collapsed in a nearby street where he died.
The suspect was handed over to the police shortly after the incident.
He is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
