The Johannesbur metro police department (JMPD) has deployed an additional 63officers to Rosettenvile where several houses thought to be brothels were nurnt by angry residents in the last two weeks.
The department has also released 29 vehicles to operate in the area in a big to put an end to drugs, protitution and other crimes. Residents on Monday challenged teh Police “To take over from where they left off” and take on the crime syndicates. An angry resident, Matshidiso Mofokeng, said police were in the habit of ” dining” with foreign nationals who hijack houses and run brothels.
“They come and arrest the guys and the same day they are out. Something must happen, because they do nothing. It is either the police station must burn or I don’t know
Residents have already given a memorandum to the Moffatview police station and expect a response by today.
A Rosettenville community leader, Andile Tshem, said they were expecting the police to step up and curb crimes in the area.

The JMPD has been doing stop-and-searches in the area since Saturday and has stopped and searched 636 vehicles and 851 people.
