Is The Government Supply Of Hemodialysis kits for diabetic and kidney patients A Distraction?
The Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital has revealed to the press that the long awaited consignment of Hemodialysis kits for diabetic and kidney patients in the North West Region has been installed and ready for use.
Dr Kingue Thompson made this revelation known Tuesday July 25, 2017 at the explanade of the hemodialysis centre. He disclosed that the close to 1000 kits used alongside the complicated machines arrived the Regional Hospital on Monday July 24, 2017.
The Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital explained that these kits are composed of devices and solutions like syringes, the dialyzer also known artificial kidney, concentrate, tubes and various liquids that are not reusable.
He said and i quote ” this was an emergency supply” According to him, a huge consignment is coming that would be able to take us through the year”. He stressed that the current consignment could last for two months.
Dr Kingue, called on the users of the centre to come for their regular dialysis. Patients suffering from the related illness confirmed to Scaresinfo Blog that the Hemodialysis Centre at the Bamenda Regional Hospital has gone for weeks now without these vital kits. This according to a patient, who prefers not to be named, is putting their life at risk. Some Patients carry two dialysis sessions a week as per normal routine in the Country. Classified sources say, when this dialysis sessions drops to once a week it becomes dangerous and become very critical especially when it drops to square zero a week. The President of the Dialysis Association at the Centre said one of the kits cost over a hundred thousand francs CFA in the market but due to governnent’s intervention in the form of subvention they are being offered the kits at 5000 francs CFA.
