HomeNewsAnglophone Crisis: Flag of Ambazonia hoisted in the Ndu Locality
A flag of the virtual republic of Ambazonia was hoisted this Thursday morning at the place of the festivities of the city of Ndu, located in the North-West region. According to the testimony of the people, the facts occurred around 4 o’clock in the morning. This action is attributed to a group of young people claiming a radical faction of the separatist cause.
These same individuals have announced that they will cause unrest during the ceremony marking the celebration of Youth Day on 11 February. From concordant sources, leaflets have been circulating in the city for a few days, to dissuade people from taking part in these demonstrations.
The authorities of the North West and South West Regions held meetings after the distribution of these leaflets. They plan to make the day a success, even though South West Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai has exempted preschool students from the traditional parade as a precautionary measure.
Last year, the February 11 festivities were heavily boycotted in English-speaking areas, particularly in rural areas, given the stalemate in schools. The scenario could reoccur if effective measures are not taken.
