Three Nigerians given a 235 years jail sentence by a US court
Cyber criminality in West Africa is on the rise, according to Interpol within the last 3 years about three billion dollars has been lost due to cyber criminality.
The 3 Nigerians by name Oladimeji Seun 30 years, Rasaq Adeoju 31 and Femi Alexander 45 years have been condemned to 235 years imprisonment for cyber crimes dating far back as 2001.
These 3 men are part of a gang of 21 members who are based in Nigeria and the US had been accused of identity theft, fraud by email and theft of public property.
With all these charges taken into consideration, the state of Mississippi served them with the maximum sanction of 235 years of imprisonment.
The three guys claimed in their plea that they profited from the naivety of women searching for love online who where later dubbed into sending money to their supposed lovers.
The youngest of them oladjimeji received a sentence of 95 years, Rasaq Aderoju on his own part was served 115 years and lastly Alexander Mewase the oldest was given 25 years imprisonment.
It is worthy of note that this 3 criminals had been extradited from South Africa to the US in 2015 to answer to the charges listed above.
